Dr. R. Brandon Wiese
DVM Virginia Tech, associate/pleasure rider
Dr. Brandon is originally from Syracuse, NY. He grew up riding and showing hunter/jumpers, quarter horses, and dabbled a little in the Arabian Sporthorse arena. He got involved in the veterinary field at an early age when his horse, Gizmo, was sent to Cornell University for a joint arthrodesis and has been hooked ever since.
In 2010 he joined the FLEP team as a veterinary assistant. He worked during the summer and on breaks while attending SUNY Geneseo, where he graduated in 2012. In 2013 he left the Upstate NY area to work in a tendon regeneration lab at Virginia Tech. He also worked in Virginia Tech’s Large Animal Hospital as a Large Animal Care Technician.

He was later accepted into the Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech, where he graduated this past May. Dr. Brandon spent time at several equine specialty practices during his clinical year. Those specialties included: sports medicine, surgery, reproduction, and lameness.
Dr. Brandon currently lives in the Syracuse area with his dog Luna and while he enjoys all aspects of ambulatory medicine, he has an added interest in areas of lameness, sports medicine and reproductive medicine.
